About us

"baretto" is a dialet italian word to say "small bar" or "local cafe". Usually in Italy we call "baretto" the place where we catchup for a quick coffee or snack. It is a local small shop very close to the community. This is actually our goal: to be able to transmit to you our passion for the great coffee and food.

Who are we? Enrico and Orietta are the two owners and managers of Baretto. Enrico was born in Arezzo, Tuscany, however the whole family comes from the Valdichiana (the valley of the famous Chianina Steak) where the great italian actor Roberto Benigni was born (Life is Beautiful), Castiglion Fiorentino., or where another very popular american movie was filmed, Under the Tuscan Sun (Cortona). Enrico moved to Prato, as actually Roberto Benigni did, at only 4 months old and grew up in the tuscan Apennines, in a village close the Mugello Valley (40km north from Florence and 60km south from Bologna). Thanks to his job as journalist/radio producer, Enrico moved to different italian cities: Florence, Rimini, Pesaro and finally Rome where he meets his wife Orietta while he was working with the biggest radio/media-group of Italy. Enrico is still involved in social media projects, he owns a TikTok profile with 50k followers and a web-radio channel called Radio Dimensione Australia.

Orietta has always been in the hospitality business. Her brother is one of the four original founders of Cibo Espresso. She worked for a long period with Cibo and put all her passion and effort into everything she did. In 2004 Orietta assisted in the coffee training for the first Cibo interstate in Brisbane as well as being one of first barista at Cibo Espresso on Rundle Street. Enrico and Orietta together use to be part of the teams at Cibo on the Parade, managed Cibo at Hyde Park and used to be the original owners of Cibo on Hutt Street. In 2016 they opened and managed a new concept of cafe, restaurant and tigelleria in magill road called Rusco & Brusco which they sold on middle 2021. After 2 years of managing at the new Rezz Hotel at Newton they finally found the perfect spot for their new adventure here at Baretto. As you can understand they know very well the coffee environment in South Australia.
